Italian Motion and Power Transmission Systems Industry: 2015/2016 sector datas, new steering committee and strategic guidelines 2016-2018
In 2015 it is confirmed the positive trend of the Italian Motion and Power Transmission Systems Industry, even in face of a weak macroeconomic environment and despite general data of the still negative manufacturing. This is what emerges from the data presented today by ASSIOT, the Italian association of manufacturers transmissions and gears, which recently renewed its vertices.
2015, for Italian industry of Motion and Power Transmission Systems, has been dedicated to the consolidation of the positions and to the “on the bases” job. It has closed with a total turnover of over 6.5 billion euro, higher than the packaging machines and machine tools.
Analyzing the main variables, the deliveries on internal market show a slight increase in 2015 compared to 2014 (+ 0.3%). The sector records the primacy within machinery for business volume in the domestic market with more than 2.7 billion.
Turning to imports, the Italian one has been a market for more than 2.3 billion also for the international competitors, to which, however, the Italian industry players leave less than an half of the total value. Germany above all as a partner country, followed at a distance by China and, with numbers gradually less important, from France, USA and the Netherlands.
At the export level, with a total value of over 3.8 billion, the Italian industry of Transmission Systems for Motion and Power is second, within capital goods, only to packaging machinery. The first country to which exports are destined remains Germany, the most traditional trading partner, followed by the USA, France, UK, Belgium, Spain and China.
As regards the trend in the first half of this year, we can talk about timid signs of growth, despite the persistence of a climate of uncertainty and a weak picture.
Inside the motion and power transmissions sector, Italy plays a major role at worldwide level: the country has been able to react to the crisis by returning to garrison the internal market and by responding to the contraction of international markets with a proposal of even higher quality.
ASSIOT new Steering Committee
The press conference has been also the opportunity to introduce the new team and the guidelines that will drive ASSIOT for the next biennium 2016-2018.
Tomaso Carraro (Carraro Group), confirmed as Chairman of the association, will be joined by Vice Presidents Paolo Ramadori (Oerlikon Graziano), with responsibility for the Promotion and Internationalization of the sector, by Assunta Galbiati (Galbiati Group), with responsibility for Administration, Finance and New Member Recruiting, and Lorenzo Cattini (Cattini & Figlio), with responsibility for technical Development, R&D and technical Standards.
During the last General Assembly it was also created the new position of Honorary Vice President and attributed to the, Director in last mandate and former Vice President, Andrea Scanavini (Somaschini).
Strategic lines for the biennium 2016-2018
ASSIOT strategic lines for the next biennium will focus on integration even more boost in mechatronics industry through the synergy with ASSOFLUID, and the search for an even greater participation by member companies.
The industry of motion and power transmission is a real and concrete Italian excellence but little recognized. It’s a must to increase its value as economic and cultural Italian asset: with this purpose will be organized round tables, seminars, economic and technical days. It will also be reproposed the initiatives “ASSIOT and ASSOFLUID meet …”, which last year were particularly successful.
One of the major task will be to establish TECO as the international event dedicated to mechatronics, automation and power transmission. The event, scheduled for June 2017, will be a valuable opportunity for discussion on the state of the art with key industry leaders, the media and institutions.
The web site Power And Motion World (www.powerandmotion.com) will become more and more a reference point for the key players of the world of mechatronics for automation and power transmission. It is a dynamic Web Community, constantly updated with industry and product news, a place where members and more generally all the companies in the sector can increase their visibility at international level. Power And Motion World also offers the opportunity to interact with companies creating groups or discussion forums.
“The future of our industry depends on what we want and will be able to do today, here in the present, everyone in his own company. But also – and not less – on what we will do together in ASSIOT “.
(Tomaso Carraro, President ASSIOT).
